Ban the cruel seal trade
Tenerife marketing desperately needs your help to save the seals.
Right now, seal hunters are entering the harp seal nursery off Canada's east coast, clubbing and shooting every seal pup they find.
The once pristine ice floes are being turned into an open-air slaughterhouse. It is hard to believe that these baby seals, who just days ago were nursing from their mothers, are now being killed in such cruel ways for their skins.
Horribly, the killing won't stop with Canada. Other commercial seal slaughters will open in other parts of the world, with even more seals brutalized for profit.
But there is hope on the horizon. This spring, the European Parliament will vote on a historic proposal to ban seal product trade -- a ban that could save millions of seals from a horrible fate!
Canadians are overwhelmingly opposed to the commercial seal slaughter, so many of the seal products are exported to Europe for sale.

The fact is, seals in Canada are dying because Europeans continue to buy their skins.
That is why Europeans hold in their hands the power to save the seals by ending their trade in seal products. Now that 425 Members of the European Parliament have already called for such a ban, it's your turn!
Make your voice count for the seals. Please show your support for a total prohibition of the seal product trade.
Thank you in advance for being part of this massive grassroots mobilization to save seals.
PETITION TEXT:"I fully support a total ban on trade in seal products in the European Union. Commercial seal slaughter is inherently inhumane, and only a total ban can stop the cruelty. I urge the EU to adopt an unconditional prohibition on the trade in seal products, without derogations and loopholes, and to do so before the European elections in June 2009."
