Jim Lewis will swap the holiday delights of Tenerife to see his exciting prospect Breedsbreeze make his debut over fences at Bangor.
Lewis returns home from a 10-day break in the Canary Islands in the early hours and will be at the North Wales track to watch his six-year-old compete in the Anderson & Co Solicitors Bright Future Novices’ Chase.
The Paul Nicholls-trained gelding, who will be ridden by Sam Thomas, faces eight rivals over an extended two and a half miles.
“I certainly will be there. We will land at about 12.30 and I’ll have a flu jab at 8.30am and be trotting up the M6 shortly after,” said Lewis.
“The horse is doing very well. Paul said he schooled well with Sam Thomas and we are just hoping for a good run. He has won point-to-points, so you’d expect him to take to chasing all right.”
Lewis, best known as the owner of triple Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Best Mate, has high hopes for Breedsbreeze, who took the Grade One Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown last winner.
“It’s very early days, but it really is a question to determine whether he’s a two-miler or a two-and-a-half-mile-plus horse,” Lewis went on.
“With his breeding and his build you’d have to think he’ll finish up a staying chaser. It’ll be worth coming home for.”
