As a regular feature, Tenerife News passes on information received (nearly always) from the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife. This is specialised information about promises made by the Cabildo to help in paying for essential reforms, re-building, laying down of parks in the towns and villages, re-surfacing of games pitches etc. The Cabildos of the Canary Islands are responsible for the everyday, week, yearly management of each island, leaving the politicking to the Autonomous Government of the Canaries, a quite separate body:

2 April, 2007: Improvements to access points at the Farmer’s Market, Garachico. Investment will be 300,000 euros.
9 April, 2007: Towards building a special path for pedestrians by the roadside at Genovés, near Garachico. Investment expected to be 850,000 euros.
10 April, 2007: Towards encouraging sporting clubs, individual athletes, and associations round the island. 300,000 euros are destined for this operation.
13 April, 2007: Improvements to the road connecting Garachico with El Tanque. Investment will ascend to 1.79 million euros.
18 April, 2007: The Cabildo will help bear the cost of a municipal swimming pool at La Matanza. The contribution will be 1.5 million euros.
19 April, 2007: The Cabildo will open a competition to design and build a new roundabout serving the Sauzal/Tacoronte road from the North Autovía exit, in the municipality of El Sauzal. Investment expected to be 500,000 euros.
The sharp-eyed will have noticed that April has been a good month for Garachico. Total moneys promised from 2 to 19 April = 5,240,000 euros or seventeen days at 308,235.29 euros per diem. |
